Description
Yellow Brick Games is seeking a talented Senior Technical Designer with deep expertise in Unreal Engine to help bring our creative vision to life. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing robust gameplay systems and their architecture from the ground up. As part of a smaller studio, we value autonomy, proactivity, and the ability to create and act on your own tasks to achieve exceptional gameplay experiences.Responsibilities
- Gameplay System Design & Implementation: Design, prototype, and implement complex gameplay systems and mechanics using Unreal Engine’s Blueprints.
- System Architecture Design: Define and build the architecture of gameplay systems to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Technical Competence & Autonomy: Work independently to identify, design, and implement systems with minimal supervision while proactively seeking ways to enhance the game’s quality and efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, programmers, and artists to ensure seamless integration of gameplay systems within the broader project vision.
- Tool & Workflow Creation: Develop tools and workflows that empower designers and improve iteration speed.
- Optimization & Debugging: Profile and optimize gameplay systems for performance and stability across various platforms.
- Documentation: Produce detailed and clear technical documentation to support the development team’s understanding and maintenance of systems.
- Proactive Contribution: Take initiative by proposing and developing innovative solutions to enhance the gameplay experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer or Senior Designer on at least one shipped AAA or high-quality indie game.
- Expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine Blueprints.
- Strong ability to design and implement scalable gameplay systems from the ground up.
- Solid understanding of gameplay programming, architecture design, and optimization techniques.
- High degree of autonomy, with the ability to effectively create, manage, and complete your own tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI systems, animation systems, UI implementation, optimization techniques, or creating efficient tools and workflows.
- Some experience using C++ in Unreal.
